Research
The Weller Lab studies the impact of viral infections on oral health & development of chronic disease. Hepatitis Delta Virus (HDV) has been identified in patients with Sjogren’s syndrome & triggers a complete disease phenotype in vivo. Ongoing research focuses on identifying the mechanisms of HDV-mediated oral disease & routes of exposure. New areas of research also include evaluating oral disease post COVID-19 infections & virus profiles associated with the development of Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.
